Wunderbot IV: Autonomous robot for international competition
Abstract
We analyze the Elizabethtown College Wunderbot IV, an autonomous robot entry for the 2008 IGVC. Wunder-bot's fourth incarnation includes enhanced obstacle detection and avoidance capabilities, as well as innovative path-planning techniques, both of which are discussed, along with all other subsystems that yield a viable contender at the competition. Inadequate obstacle detection methods used in 2006 will be enhanced by introducing a laser range-finder. Building upon experiences in two prior IGVC competitions (2004 and 2006), Wunderbot IV's new advanced equipment integrating within the existing framework will make it a strong competitor for its upcoming third appearance in international competition.
