Abstract
To demonstrate the intersection of French studies, history, and international relations, the project focuses on the cultural exchanges among French poets, like Guillaume Apollinaire and André Breton, and Spanish painters, principally Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, during the rise of surrealism. More specifically, the project spans World War I, the Spanish Civil War, and World War II. In addition to evaluating paintings, research employs literary and historical sources, such as French poems, and extracts from surrealist periodicals such as Le Surréalisme au service de la revolution and VVV. Analysis from an international relations perspective facilitate interpreting the works, all of which are to be in French. However, the presentation is in English.
